Paul Cadden-Zimansky is an experimental condensed matter physicist whose research has focused on mesoscopic superconductivity and quantum Hall states in graphene. His most recent paper, the July 2024 cover story of The American Journal of Physics, is on “Visualizations of Single and Entangled Qubits.” He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from Northwestern University, where he was a Presidential Fellow, and has held research appointments at Columbia University, Argonne National Laboratory, and the U.S. National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. Paul received his bachelor’s degree from the Great Books Program of St. John’s College, earned a master’s degree from the London School of Economics in History and Philosophy of Science, and is a former chair of the American Physical Society’s Forum on the History and Philosophy of Physics. He is currently an Associate Professor of Physics at Bard College and a Global Coordinator for the UN-declared 2025 International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.
