Episode: #66 – The Quantum Computing Advantage is Closer Than You Think
Dr. Krysta Svore is passionate about empowering people and organizations around the world with quantum computing and realizing a scaled quantum machine. Dr. Svore brought the first quantum computers to Azure and now her team designs and delivers the software and scientific innovation required for a fault-tolerant quantum system, including realizing the most reliable logical qubits on record. Dr. Svore has published over 70 refereed articles and filed over 30 patents.
She is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Physical Society, and the Washington State Academy of Sciences. She won the 2010 Yahoo! Learning to Rank Challenge with a team of colleagues, received an ACM Best of 2013 Notable Article award, and was recognized as one of Business Insider Most Powerful Female Engineers of 2018. A Kavli fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, she also serves as an advisor to the National Quantum Initiative and the Advanced Scientific Computing Advisory Committee of the Department of Energy, and formerly served on the ISAT Committee of DARPA, in addition to numerous other quantum centers and initiatives globally.
Krysta received her Ph.D. with Highest Distinction in Computer Science from Columbia University in 2006 under Dr. Alfred Aho and Dr. Joseph Traub. Krysta spent part of her PhD with Dr. Isaac Chuang at MIT and Dr. John Preskill at Caltech, and interned with Dr. David DiVincenzo and Dr. Barbara Terhal at IBM Research. Krysta received a B.A. in Mathematics, with a minor in Computer Science and French, from Princeton University in 2001.
